Grrr…leave your dog at home!!!!!?
So, I just ran to the grocery store for some fruit…and low and behold, a woman with a chihuahua peeking out of her straw tote is leaning over the produce.
Does anyone else find this especially irritating?
I had no problems taking my ON LEAD and well-behaved APBTs to the local Farmer’s Exchange to do some shopping, or PetSmart/PetCo where well behaved pets are welcome…but I think it’s entirely inappropriate to take a dog, who is not a service animal, to a public place that isn’t specifically pet friendly…I don’t care how easily it fits into your purse.
Why? Why can’t people just leave their dogs home? I mean….the GROCERY STORE? Come on….
Agreed Aussie. In Paris, I had lunch with a woman and her sheepdog. However, there are folks around with severe allergies to dander….does a dog, however small, belong in a produce department.
This irritates the daylights out of me.
Mainly, dogs are not for toting around in a purse… EVER. I don’t understand that. I never will.
I think people like this think that rules don’t apply to them. I have never seen a person with a cat in their purse… a ferret in their purse or someone carrying around their pet snake.
While I am a dog person… I don’t believe in taking them to places where they are not allowed. No sneaking them in or pretending they are service animals.
I’m even more irritated by the fact that people with legitimate service dogs get questioned about their helpers but women with “pocket book dogs” do not.
This does not apply to service dogs at all or dog – friendly places. I think it’s up to all dog owners to be good stewards for dog ownership. Just because your dog is little doesn’t make it right to bring him places where dogs are normally prohibited.
